Kenneth Muguna Named New Gor Mahia Captain

The announcement was made by the club on Friday afternoon, a day after Gor unveiled new head coach Steven George Pollack and his assistant Patrick Odhiambo.

Kenneth Muguna has been named the new captain of Gor Mahia FC following the departure of Harun Shakava, who is on his way to Zambian outfit Nkana FC.

The announcement was made by the club on Friday afternoon, a day after Gor unveiled new head coach Steven George Pollack and his assistant Patrick Odhiambo.

Muguna returned to Gor last season following a failed stint in Albania for league side FK Tirana, which is managed by former K’Ogalo tactician Jose Ferreira alias Ze Maria.

Harambee Stars international Joash Onyango, who formed a rock-solid partnership in the heart of the Gor defense alongside the exiting Shakava, was handed the onus to deputize the new captain.

“We can confirm that Kenneth Muguna is the new captain of Gor Mahia Football Club. We want to wish him the best as he takes on this great responsibility,” the club communicated on its social media platforms on Friday afternoon.

Muguna first joined Gor in 2017 from fellow SportPesa Premier League (SPL) outfit Western Stima FC, where he played alongside his Vice Captain Onyango.

Aside from the technical bench, Gor also unveiled 16 new signings who will be a part of the first team for the 2019/20 SPL season.

The record league winners will kick off their title defense on Sunday, September 1 against 2016 winners Tusker FC, who recently acquired the services of long-serving Gor winger George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo on a two-year deal.
